A few months ago, we told you about how Tarragona will be hosting the next International Camp Congress in October 2023.
This congress, promoted by the International Camp Fellowship (ICF), aims to bring together professionals from the education and camp sector to share experiences, discover new international trends and present the culture and the way of organizing leasure activities in the host region.
After months of online meetings organizing the project from different countries around the world, the Organizing Committee has met this week in Tarragona with national associations and public institutions, get to know the city and visit together the spaces where the congress will take place.
John Jorgenson, co-chair for ICC, from Canada, Fahrettin Gozet, president of the ICF from Turkey and Valeri Kostin, former president of the ICF from Russia and the USA, were the first to arrive in Spain last Friday. Carolina Fleix, co-chari for ICC and ICF Ambassador for Spain, received them with open arms together with Felipe Fleix and Joan Ibarra, also from the organizing committee.
During the weekend we had the opportunity to discover the Catalan tradition of "Castells", human towers, from which the slogan of the congress “Fem pinya - Come together to rise higher” was born.
On Monday they met with Tarragona Turisme and on Tuesday they spent the day in Barcelona visiting different organizations such as Acellec (Catalan Association of Education and Culture), ANEACAMP (National Association of Activity and Camp Companies), Kids Cluster, Fundesplai and they also had the opportunity to present the project to Joventut's general secretary, Alex Sastre.
That same day Jill Dundas and Jeff Bradshaw arrived in Tarragona from Toronto, Ane Margarit from Iceland and Alexia Sideri, in charge of the communication of the congress, from Greece.
On Wednesday, at Finca Tamarit, and on Thursday, at Villa Engracia, the ICF board meeting took place to review the action plan of the congress at all levels.
To end the week, today they are visiting PortAventura World, as its Convention Centre will be hosting the international congress from October 4th to 8th, 2023.
It is an important event that expects the participation of professionals from more than 120 countries all over the world.
